Challenge: To create an illustrated poster that advertises the Day of the Dead holiday.

Solution: The idea for the poster came from a lot of imagery associated with the Day of the Dead. The main subject of the poster to be La Catrina whose face is covered in common sugar skull designs standing in front of a marigold background under a string of papel picados. The colors in the piece are a nod to the vibrant colors often used during the Day of the Dead. The overall style of the illustration was kept flat while emphasizing the outlines by using a textured brush on the top of the illustrations.
